Multiple Sclerosis Competition 12th May 2007

As you all know, we held an Open Kata Competition at our Dojo on the 12th May 2007 to raise money and awareness for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
The Society is based in Dudley and unfortunately they have lost most of their funding including their minibus because they can't afford to run it anymore, which means a lot of the people disabled by this crippling disease can't even get out of the house anymore,so we put out a call to our friends in the Martial Art's from around the West Midlands and we managed to raise £586.00 which was raised from entry fee's and the raffle this was matched by our sponsors Barclays Bank which has brought the final total to £1172.00,Barclays Bank kindly donated some very nice prizes ( DVD Player, ipod,Bottle of Champagne etc etc) and we would like to personally thank Wendy Whitehouse Regional Bank Manager for Barclays for her support in this venture.
Thankyou to all that attended, your support is very much appreciated, well done to the referee(Sensei Derek Ridgway) and all the corner judges for very fair and consistant scoring on the day.
Thankyou to Andrew Farrington and Leigh Maydew for the (FREE)use of the church on the day, also the ladies from Barclays who served tea and coffee's etc and again to everyone that helped either setting up or clearing away on the day, many thanks to you all.
One final note, we are holding our annual demonstration on Friday 8th June at 7.00-9.30pm everyone is welcome, its a chance to see what the students have been up to for the last year and you can bring along your relatives and friends, the more the merrier!
At the Demo a large Cheque will be presented to the Multiple Sclerosis Society by Barclays Bank for the money that was raised on the competition day.
Hope you can make it.
Yours in Karate,
Dave Parry.
